What is DjVu

DjVu is a highly sophisticated, ground-breaking technology developed by AT&T Labs. DjVu is the Next Generation of Image Compression Technology that allows the distribution on the Internet of high resolution versions of scanned pages and compact versions of digital documents. With DjVu, content developers can scan high-resolution color pages of books, magazines, catalogs, manuals, historical or ancient documents, and make them available on the Web.

The DjVu plugin for UNIX is both a standalone viewer of DjVu files and a plugin to be used together with Netscape. It allows you to display and navigate through DjVu documents easily and conveniently. To use the plugin, just start Netscape and surf to the DjVu image you would like to view. To use the standalone viewer type djview in the command line if DjVu directory is in your PATH, or find the djview program on your hard disk and run it with the full path. For list of command-line arguments please consult the "References" section.
